The Heritage Centre

  • Work has now commenced on the upgrade of the Heritage Centre in Carrick on Suir to turn it into a State of the art Interpretation centre to showcase the history of Carrick-on-Suir & its people.

  • In 2017 , the Carrick on Suir Development Association (COSDA) through their membership of the Carrick on Suir Tourist & Economic Development Committee & along with Munster Vales secured funding for the architectural design, & planning permission to carry out much needed upgrading & restoration work to the building.
  • As part of this project , COSDA have also prepared a state of the art interpretation plan which will showcase the History of Carrick on Suir & its people.
  • This new Visitors Centre will provide a new interactive experience to all who visit & a comprehensive marketing plan will be in place to entice more visitors to the town , by linking up with all of the other key Tourist Initiatives in the area – Suir Blueway ,Ormond Castle , Waterford Greenway, Munster Vales & Linguan Valley.
  • While this vital work is being completed , the Visitor Information Office has now relocated to the Civic Offices on New Street for the summer months , opening hours will be Monday – Friday 9.30AM to 4.30PM.
  • Regretfully , the Heritage Centre Displays will not be viewable to the public while work continues.
  • The Farmers market will continue to take place each Friday as usual in the grounds of the Heritage Centre .
  • We need your support.
  • We need the next Government’s support – all voters should ask canvassers will they support this project.

  • As with any project of this size , significant fund raising will be required to allow this project to be completed – if you are interested in finding out how you can donate & support this project , please email heritagecentre@gmail.com or cos.business@gmail.com for more information.

Digital Hub

  • The Digital Hub will be a shared space work environment where new , individual & small businesses can come to work , share electricity , heat & other bills while they launch & expand their business.
  • Our Goal is to establish 65 work-spaces for hot desk, SME business start-ups and the attraction of small functions of businesses from the larger urban centres in line with the Government’s NPF 2040 and Enterprise Ireland/IDA plans to create jobs outside Dublin and major urban centres.
  • This project is focused on job and business creation with appropriate business mentoring and related supports through LEO, local business leaders and academic institutions , to make these jobs successful
  • The direct/indirect job creation could be up to 150 jobs over 10 years with a 10 year economic value of over €30 million to our town.
  • This project is critical to ensure that Carrick-on-Suir gets a fair share of the jobs promised to rural areas in the Government’s NPF2040 plan.
  • The Digital Hub will partner with local businesses , 3rd level Institutions & Local Enterprise Office & other hubs throughout the country to ensure that all users of the Digital Hub will get the best possible support to allow all businesses located there to grow and prosper & create more jobs.
  • It will tackle the lack of Enterprise & Digital Learning space in the region & for the first time in the area engage with a peer network throughout the country to tap into new growth & support opportunities for their business.
  • Initial job creation will be 15 with a further 50 planned as part of an expansion plan for the hub.
  • We need your support.
  • We need the next Government’s support – all voters should ask canvassers will they support this project.
