It is fitting that this ancient, historic graveyard is the final resting place of Maurice Davin, the first President of the Gaelic Athletic Association, The Davin clan originated in county Fermanagh and their family tradition had it that they migrated South in the army of Black Hugh O’Neill in the seventeenth century and helped to defend Clonmel against Cromwell in 1650
